1% for the planet

In July of 2015, Ship to Shore Productions sailed more than 300 miles from Mackinac Island to Chicago. We collected water samples along the way for Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation Microplastics Project and created a video documenting our experience for 1% for the Planet's far-reaching "Blue Needs You To Make Waves" campaign. The campaign is inspiring thousands to pledge to help keep the Earth's waters cleans.

The video was also featured on National Geographic's Voices blog in a field update from ASC founder Gregg Treinish.

ASC has found microplastics in some of the world's most remote places. These tiny plastic particles attract toxins and then are eaten by fish and other aquatic life. Their research is an important first step in reducing plastic pollution in oceans, lakes and rivers around the world.
